Interview with Balagan

One of our discoveries of 2017 was the Berlin-based trio, Balagan, who released their EP, “A Mess”, during the summer. The band opened for Sundays & Cybele for the last Hidden Frequencies Cosmic Rodeo series of the year. Their first time in Paris was a memorable experience and won’t be forgotten any time soon. The energy was electrifying right from the beginning until the very end. Slip Inside This Sound was able to catch up with Balagan to ask them a few questions.

How was Balagan formed?

We met at a Bob Marley concert then the decision was to boil us down with a lot of sugar and fruits and we ended up jamming.

What number life are you on now and what were you in a previous life?

Still on the same life because we are vampires. By the way don’t bring garlic to our shows.

Where is the best place to watch people dancing in the moonlight? (see video below)

How would you describe a live experience with Balagan?

In one word, mental.

What is your favourite German word (with at least three syllables)?

Ausländerbehörde (English: Immigrations Authority)

What’s the most useless talent you have?

Playing a instrument, flipping pancakes, partying.

Would you rather live in a utopia as a normal person or in a dystopia where you are the supreme ruler?

We are pretty utopian people. Normal is nice.

Who would be the worst musician/artist to have lunch with?

G.G. Allin

Do you think aliens exist?

We are living proof.

What would we hear if “A Mess” is played backwards?

"Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin/“Californication” by Red Hot Chili Peppers
